If you have teenagers, you've probably said it, "If you don't see it, move the milk!"
In the context of food and refrigerators this is simple. Outside of that homogeneity (I'm so punny), sometimes we need to do this with regard to people that we know/work/ interact with. If you don't see what you are looking for in them, perhaps it's because you've got this large misconception of who they should be ahead of who they really are. Why do we do that? People aren't perfect. People come with strengths and weaknesses. Yes. Everyone.
On a related note, I'm generally ok with who I am. Years ago, maybe not but I was still trying to figure it out. Today, yes. Grace is a powerful thing. I've messed up lots but am thankful for those people around me who extend grace and forgiveness to my shortcomings and call me their friend. It's a nice feeling, huh?! To expand, I'm super thankful for Jesus-but we can talk about that personally some other time.
So, my take away for today- my glass of refreshing 1% milk if you will is- I hope we can continue to give those around us the opportunity to be who they are. Put aside the compartmentalizing of personalities and preconceived notions of who people should be. Love each other. Forgive. Be patient. The world is not full of yous and mes it's full of individuals.
Move the milk. See the person.
